Welcome to the New Year!

It’s 2018 already. I actually can’t believe it. I’ve been sick for the last week or so, so it hasn’t really felt like Christmas or New Years at all. More so for the fact that I haven’t left the house since December 23rd, except for a trip to the hospital.

Even though I haven’t felt very festive or good in general, I still wrote down my New Years Resolutions which I want to share with you.

Number 1: Go to the gym regularly

I started going to the gym around July 2017 – so last year – and I was loving it but over the past few months I have been pretty sick, mainly with severe bronchitis. I have been getting better but I haven’t been well enough to work out, or at least, work out without the possibility of throwing up all over myself. It was a great activity and very rewarding, and now that it is the new year I want to put more effort into it. It’s not only great exercise for me but it also has been helping me with my chronic pain greatly. (You can read about my condition here and my fitness routine here)

Number 2: Blogging

I have been blogging for about 2 months now and I’m still loving it. It makes me happy and its a great hobby (and hopefully a future career).I want to blog more and improve my writing skills this year so that I can write better blog posts and get my points across better. Number 3: Enrol in and complete a journalism course

Since I started my blog, I’ve been wanting to undertake a journalism course. I tried to do a 2-day beginners introductory course but that course isn’t running this year until February and I might have already moved to a different state by then, which I am a bit disappointed about.

Number 4: Take every opportunity that I can

I want to make the most out of this year and I want to gain as many skills and experiences as I can.

Number 5: Get help for my anxiety

This falls in a little bit with opportunities. My anxiety takes over when the phone rings or someone comes to the door which has hindered opportunities and job prospects for me a lot. I actually applied to be a prison guard a few months ago but couldn’t answer the phone when they called for a phone interview. (You can read more about my anxiety here)

Number 6: Get healthy

This kind of falls into the same category as my gym resolution and also my anxiety goal but my next goal or resolution for this year is to get better and get healthy. I have been experiencing severe stomach pain for the past year or so and it can be completely excruciating and debilitating when I have an ‘episode’. I don’t like calling it an episode but I’m not really sure what else to call it at this point. I’m over being so controlled by my own body and not being able to figure out why or how to fix it.

Number 7: Take different classes

I really want to take more classes in the things that I love, want to learn and need the training in. I would love to do classes in cooking since I can’t cook at all; sewing as I would love to be able to design and sell my clothes; photography – I got a new DSLR camera for my birthday last year and would love to use it properly and take great pictures; and lastly certificates that will benefit me in the future, like a first aid kit or swim coaching. I would also like to do maybe an administration course so that I can increase my office skills and possible job opportunities.


I’m guessing most people probably don’t have 7 different goals or resolutions for 2018 but these 7 goals are what I will be focusing on and achieving to the best of my ability this year. This is the year that I put my heart and hard work into. I don’t want to waste this year or lose out on experiences like I did in 2017. 2018 will be the year to shine.
