Happy Easter Everyone! Can you believe it’s April already? It feels like the year is flying by. There’s not too much going on my end of the screen but I’m hoping that this month will be the month that I take control and get out there more. One of my favourite things about the start of a new month is the experiences, excitement, and events that are happening or could happen during the next 30 (or 31 sometimes) days. There are endless possibilities and opportunities just sitting there waiting for you to take on throughout the month. One of the things I love to do at the start of each month is to set goals and expectations for myself. It gives me a sense of accomplishment and motivation to meet those expectations.
I didn’t share my goals for March as I was taking a little bit of a break but in saying that March went really well when it came to those goals and expectations. Our new place is almost completely furnished, I’m still on the search for a job but in the time that I haven’t been working I have been able to hit up some mental health practitioners to help me on my road to getting better and I also saw a dietician and have been eating so much healthier. A healthy body equals a healthy mind! Plus, I am discovering all of these new vegetables, dishes and healthier versions of snacks that I never even know I could enjoy!
So to start off this month, I want to share my goals for the next 30 days (one of which I have already started working on)!
Writing is still on my list of goals because I took so much time off last month from it and I want to get back into the habit of it and bringing you guys new content every chance I get! Since I stopped writing, I have been missing it so much and feeling a little like a failure for not having the motivation or energy to get up off my ass and write something, anything!
Organising, like writing, is also still on the list. I have been getting so much better and getting myself organised like organising doctors appointments, writing shopping lists (I recently discovered Wunderlist and it is amazing! It is so nice to be able to write every possible list and item that I need with the click of a button rather than running around trying to find one I’d already written down. Plus, I can share my lists with Gilly so he always has the lists too so he doesn’t have to worry about forgetting something at the shops – but seriously, get this app!). Going back to the writing again, I really want to start making a daily task/habit list so I remember to write every day, drink a bottle of water, do the chores, but also have a time set for each task, whether that be by actual hours like ‘chores 9am‘ or per hour like ‘writing 1 hour a day‘.
I was raised Roman Catholic but lost my faith almost 10 years ago after my philosophy teacher told me to question everything, which I did. But, it made me question God himself and his existence. Up until May last year I hated the idea of religion in general and everything it stood for. I felt that if we got rid of religion altogether then everyone would just move onto the next ‘big thing‘. But in May, just after my Granny passed away, I started to open up to it a little. I started wearing my Granny’s Miraculous Medal, I hung her cross in my bedroom and, like I have done since I was about 8, I carried a bottle of holy water with me everywhere I went. It wasn’t until recently that I really started opening back up to the idea. As soon as Gilly and I got a car, I blessed it, as soon as we moved into our new house I hung the cross up right by the front door, as soon as someone asked me to pray for someone or something I would pray, and today I went to church for the first time in a very long time. I still question my beliefs but by doing what I’m doing now, I feel closer to my Granny and that’s more important to me than an explanation. So working on my faith and going to church every once in a while is something I really want to do.
My health has recently become more important to me. Okay, I still haven’t really exercised, save for a couple of small walks to the church, but I have been focusing on my eating. I have been taking a multivitamin every morning and avoiding fast food as best I can. I still have a long way to go but this month I want to focus on learning more recipes and having more variety in my diet. I’m hoping that by the end of the month my eating habits will be at a point where it is really helping my mental health and helping me get back to who I used to be (for the most part anyway).
Last but not least, I want to fix my blog up a little bit and grow my audience and readers. I really need to try to sort out the mobile version of my site because it is tragic (honestly, if you haven’t already seen it, it is the most basic of basic of boring templates that I have ever seen!) The other thing I want to work on this month is looking into writing an e-book, downloadable lessons/advice or maybe even an online course. I’m hoping that by the end of the year I will have my very first online course live, with an ebook or two thrown in along the way, so keep an eye out for updates about that over the coming weeks and months, or if you have any suggestions for what the ebook or course could be about then let me know in the comments!
What are your goals for April? Did you have goals for March? If so, how did you go with those? Let me know in the comments!
