6 Fashion Mistakes You Are Probably Making

“Fashion is very important. It is life-enhancing and, like
everything that gives pleasure, it is worth doing well.”
– Vivienne Westwood

How many times has someone come up to you and pointed out something messy about your outfit? It’s usually your mum pointing it out but either way, it can be a bit embarrassing, to say the least. That’s why I have compiled a list of the 10 fashion mistakes you could be making right now and how to fix them!

1. Lint, fur, and hair on your clothes

This is a big no-no, especially since it has such an easy fix. It can be so hard to keep your clothes free of fur when you have pets but it’s definitely not a good excuse to leave your clothes like that. An easy fix is to buy a lint roller. They only cost a few dollars and will take off everything that doesn’t belong on your t-shirt or jeans. Another option is to pop your clothes in the dryer after washing. Most dryers will get the biggest and most obvious bits of lint and hair off your clothing. If there is anything left then pull out the lint roller again. It may be a bit on the more expensive side but if you can afford it, do it.

2. Smudges on your glasses

Smudged glasses are never cute, and they make it so much harder to see through too. Always carry a glasses cleaning spray and lint-free dry wipe to clean them on the go. If you wear your glasses part-time or are regularly taking them off and putting them back on, then be mindful of how you are doing it, where are your fingers placed? Always avoid touching the lenses with your bare fingers too as this can damage the lens or smudge them even more. This goes for sunglasses too!

3. Visible bra straps

Just don’t do it! There are so many other bras in the world that you can wear with a tube top or singlet instead of one with thick, bright straps. It can look tacky and it also takes away from the rest of the outfit. Always choose a bra appropriate for your shirt or dress. An easy way to avoid this issue is to choose your top or dress before your bra, that way you already know what style of bra you will need. The same goes for underwear!

4. Wet hair

Wet hair is usually fine if you are live near the beach or are going pretty casual but it doesn’t look very professional if you are at work or in a meeting. Having wet hair can signal to a person that you woke up late or didn’t manage your time well, and thus didn’t have time to dry it. If you prefer the natural drying method then wake up a little earlier or look into other non-heat based drying products.

5. Too many accessories

Having too many accessories can look very overcrowded and messy. Try wearing one bracelet and one necklace instead. Wearing 5 of one item can also distract from the rest of your outfit and also make you look inexperienced or unprofessional.

6. Wearing old make-up

Wearing yesterdays make-up is not only bad for your skin, but it also looks very tacky and lazy. Always take your make-up off before bed with a wet wipe, and then moisturise. Repeat the next morning if your make-up can be tricky to get off (hello waterproof eyeliner). If you can’t take it off that night then do it in the morning but be extra with it. Give yourself a quick/mini facial to rehydrate your skin. Side note: don’t forget to exfoliate one to two times each week on top of your regular skin routine.
