Recently I was diagnosed with eczema on 90% of my body. Before being diagnosed I never had any skin problems, never had pimples, acne, stretch marks or anything else. So when the dermatologist told me that I had pretty severe eczema I was close to tears.
If you don’t know what Eczema is, it is a skin condition that can present as an itchy rash, dry skin, red blotches and so on. It is a life-long condition that can be treated but so far does not have a cure. Most people with eczema have a family history of it or some sort of allergy that can cause it but for me, I had neither.
Since being diagnosed I have upped my skin routine majorly. I’ve always known I needed to do something to keep my skin healthy but I never knew how to or where to start so my eczema has given me some new tools to help me take care of myself better. So, in light of this, I have compiled three over-the-counter products that have done wonders for me in a few short months!
Alpha Keri Shower & Body Oil
I adore this shower and body oil! It smells amazing and it makes my skin feel so healthy. It feels just like regular baby oil and it lasts for up to 24 hours at a time. It’s incredibly light and so easy to use. All you have to do is replace your regular body wash for Alpha Keri Shower and Body Oil, and you can put it on your face too. I like to exfoliate my face first and then hop in the shower. Once the exfoliant is washed off, I put some oil in my hands and gently cover my whole face, and then wash off again.
Cetaphil Moisturising Cream
This moisturising cream has been amazing on my skin. I put it on everywhere after a shower as I find that once my skin is clean and the pores have opened up I get a better result. I started off with twice a day and now I do it once a day as this works better for me. The bad part? You need a lot of it each time you use it so a 550g tub will last about 2 months if you are generous, 3 months if you aren’t. Oh, and once you get dressed, everything will be white and sticky but you get used to that pretty quickly.
Aveeno Daily Moisturising Cream
Lastly, the Aveeno Daily Moisturising Cream is exactly that same as the Cetaphil Moisturising Cream, except one is a tub and one is a bottle. I love both but I find that it is so much easier to carry and pack the Aveeno bottle when travelling. It is smaller and more conpact so you don’t have to force it into your hand luggage or suitcase. It’s also great to use on days where I am feeling a little lazy or sluggish and just want a quick fix. Not only that but because of it’s size and that it has a nozzle makes it more inviting when you are taking your make-up off and want to moisturise before bed.
What did you think of this list? What products do you use to keep your skin healthy? Have you tried any of those mentioned above? Let me know in the comments!
